About Us
Happy Feet Sussex is organised and run by Gordon and Sara
We are Gordon and Sara and are professional established dance organisers having now run social dances and practice sessions, for nearly five years. We have both been dancing well in excess of twenty-five years and hold Gold Star 1 in both Ballroom and Latin American dancing. Sara is a (non-subject specific) qualified teacher, has a BSc Degree in Mathematics, and has been teaching Mathematics for over forty years. She has also taught line dancing as an extra curricular activity for over ten years in schools where she has worked. She originally trained as an ice skater, and as well as ice dancing has also done ballet, tap and Charleston dancing. Gordon is originally a Physicist, has a BSc degree in Physics and an MSc in Applied Optics, but has had a long career running his own business as a Computer Programmer. As well as running dances we also do exhibition Ballroom and Latin Dancing.
We are not a dance school and make no pretence of being qualified dance teachers. Our aim is for people to enjoy themselves first and foremost, and in particular to complement the local dance schools, Dance Mavericks, Eastbourne Ballroom, Ballroom Glamour and Sequence and Line Dancing Eastbourne, by providing extra social dancing and practice sessions, for their pupils to practise and enjoy their dancing. We are fully insured to run dances and licenced to play recorded music. We are also professional members of People Dancing and act by their guidelines.
Our dances are open to all, beginners, intermediate and experienced dancers, couples and single people.
We do provide some dance hosting and welcome anyone unsure about returning to dancing, or who is just staying temporarily in the area. Our programme consists of Ballroom, Latin and popular Sequence dances in roughly equal measure, with one or two line dances thrown in which we will walk through. We play an automated track list of all the Ballroom and Latin dances in the interval so people can practise.
We run a variety of dances:
Popular Sunday afternoon tea dances
Tuesday evening dance practice sessions
Thursday afternoon tea dances
Saturday and Sunday evening social dances
We also organise dance exhibitions in various places and these continue to be well received. Do get in touch if you would like more details.
